Jamie Hewlett – Gorillaz – Limited Edition Print – Russel – Green – Signed Artist Proof

An ultra rare artist’s proof, Gorillaz silk screen by Jamie Hewlett; only ever available to friends and family via Steve Lazarides.

Steve worked alongside Banksy as his sole principal commercial agent, manager, producer, photographer, driver and more between 1997 and 2008.

During this time, Jamie worked with Bansky, Lazarides and other artists on the Pictures on Walls project in London.

Generally, the initial test prints the artist is satisfied with are classed as artist proof and rarely sold on the open market.

The Russel image is taken from Demon Days rear album cover illustration. In April 2005, Pictures on Walls would publish a yellow version of the Russel silk screen via their website, in conjunction with the launch of Demon Days in May 2005, along with other prints, such as Noodle Gob, Murdoc and 2D.

Each artist’s proof is unique; screen printed on classic off-white recycled, wove paper; the same paper used for Banksy prints.

Hand-signed by Jamie with the initials ‘AP’ for artist proof added underneath the signature; the pink, green and red editions were never published in volume.
